GLASGOW, Ky. – A local musician decided to make a change for himself – now he’s going to be in a magazine.
Steve Jewell, bass guitar player for Black Stone Cherry, decided in the early stages of the pandemic that he needed to rework his lifestyle. Jewell said in his interview with News 40 at one point he was “eating more tums than anything” with stomach problems on the rise. The music man said being on tour, he wasn’t eating the best and was beginning to notice some issues with his health.
After being on lockdown, he started to change his eating habits and lost 80 pounds just by watching what he ate. A year later he started hitting the gym and lost a total of 135 pounds in combination with exercise.
“I started thinking about what I would look like if I lost 50 pounds, or 100 pounds. I thought about what I would look like if I went to the gym for 6 months, a year etc. Then it just hit me one day, dude what if you went to the gym today?”
Though Jewell didn’t win the ultimate guy, he was one of 10 semi-finalists, which he still considers a great honor. In the January edition of Men’s Health, Jewell will be featured along with 6 other semi-finalists, along with their story and advice.
