Revealing all on her IG, makeup artist and hair stylist Emma Chen, showed us how to master the ‘pinch hair hack’, a clever technique that is totally fool proof and can be used time and time again to plump up those effortless, tumbling tousles.

Rather than reaching for plumping powders or roots mists throughout the day, Emma says that is a better way to create lift when your hair starts to fall flat.

‘Do you over prep hair? Using too much product can sometimes be as bad as not using any product at all. Hair becomes weighed down, limp and over-processed,’ she says.
‘The key to adding volume and texture without relying on product is creating different shapes in the hair. It stops the hair barrelling into itself and creates dimension,’ adds Emma.
She then takes the front sections of the hair at the parting and gathers them into a pinch. This brings the sections closer together, helping to defining the waves fall around your cheekbones, while adding root lift at the front.
It’s so simple, yet so effective. The best bit is you can do it throughout the day, meaning every time your hair feels like it’s falling a little flat, you can give it a quick ‘pinch’ and be on your merry way.
