Best Rains jacket, according to an Editor, is in now on sale

Rains jackets don’t often go on sale. But when they do, you bet your bottom dollar we’re on it. For the uninitiated, Rains is one of those wet weather brands you see practically everywhere in London – whether it’s torrential rain, merely threatening a down pour, or even glorious sunshine. The brand’s distinct matte outerwear pieces are designed for rain (er, per the name) but its stylish, minimalist design means they are worn by commuters and outdoorsy folk year-round.

If you are already familiar with Rains, you’ll know that it’s not a cheap brand. I can practically hear my dad yell ‘£80 pounds for a rain jacket?!’ but I’m a firm believer in spending a little more on a quality item that will see me through years to come. Having said that, I am still my father’s daughter, and will never pay more than I have to for said quality item. Which is why I’ll wait until the sales before splurging on a pricier piece.

After checking the Black Friday deals every day this week, today I *finally* managed to find my beloved Rains jacket on sale, so I wanted to share the good news.

For context, I have two Rains coats: one is the longer style in caramel and the other is the cropped black design. While the caramel one is designed to look more like a trench, my favourite has to be the shorter black jacket. Why? Because it’s versatile as hell (black really does go with everything). Plus, it’s also short enough that I can tie it around my waist when I’m setting off on long walks with the sky looking slightly ominous. In fact, I’m such a fan of the cropped Rains jacket, I’ve worn it to countless festivals.

If you haven’t tried a Rains jacket on before, something I was surprised to learn is that the outside is super smooth, but the inside is slightly rough. This hasn’t stopped me wearing mine over a t-shirt, but it’s something to note. The pockets are also a really good size, and the hood is generous enough that it sits comfortably over the top of your forehead, rather than being one of those hoods you constantly need to keep pulling up.
