We’re not entirely sure what UFC president Dana White has been up to for the last month, but if his latest comments are anything to go by, he hasn’t been gorging himself on World Cup action.
A clip of White has recently resurfaced where he gives his thoughts on the beautiful game, and let’s just say, when it comes to football – or soccer as he calls it – Dana White has left the chat.
“Can’t stand soccer,” White said. “I think that it’s the least talented sport on Earth.
“There’s a reason three-year-olds can play soccer. You run around and kick a ball.”
After giving his initial summery of the world’s most popular sport, White was interrupted by someone suggesting he wouldn’t repeat his opinion in the football-mad country of Brazil, but again White disagreed. “You wouldn’t say that if you were in Brazil, dude I’d say this in any country ever,” he said.
“When you’re playing a game where the net is this big, and the score is 3-1, are you s**ting me right now?
“Do you know how untalented you have to be to score three points when the net is this big?”
White’s comments have come to light at an awkward time, and not just because the World Cup, the world’s biggest sporting event, which is literally watched by half the world’s population, is still underway. His comments have also surfaced just as the UFC signs a major sponsorship deal with Spain’s premier football division, La Liga, to cross-promote their respective sports around the world.
Some awkward conversations happening in that boardroom, we imagine.
