But when it was announced that HBO would release a series adaptation of the hugely popular video game, The Last of Us, audiences immediately found their curiosity piqued. Having introduced us to the zombie-fighting duo that is Joel and Ellie, the show has since become HBO’s second most-watched series premiere in more than a decade, falling just behind Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. While a release date is yet to be announced, the second season looks likely to release at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
