Members from 723 Squadron – Joint Helicopter School took a short break from buzzing the skies to do some buzzing of a different kind – shaping their facial hair in support of Movember 2022.
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise vital funds and awareness of men’s health issues.
Participants from Navy, Army, Boeing Defence Australia and Thales recently bared all in a moustache competition which saw two members judged for having the “best” and “worst” mo’.
The activity was jointly organised by Army Aircrewman Corporal Joshua Molloy and Boeing instructor Chris Thomas, and highlighted the integrated workforce at 723 Squadron and capturing the spirit of people working together to support their mates.
“In a workplace that’s predominately male, it’s especially significant that 723 Squadron gets behind Movember, and who doesn’t love an excuse to grow a bit of facial fluff?” Mr Thomas said.
The fundraising was well supported, with $1348 raised before the barbecue commenced and additional funds raised on the day.
Movember is the leading charity for men’s health, specifically raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
