After almost a year of waiting, there are finally some details to share about The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season five. The hit series, which airs on Prime Video, left fans with many questions after a shocking season four finale.
In case you’re just tuning in, the show follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel (played by
Rachel Brosnahan) as she navigates her career as a stand-up comedian. After a small-slip up during a performance towards the end of season three, Midge spends most of season four trying to find her footing again.
Naturally, this left fans wondering what it all means for Midge’s future. Since this will be the show’s final season, fans are hopeful that their questions will be answered. And while spoilers aren’t out just yet, there are still plenty of details to get a head start on.

When will season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel premiere?
As of right now, a release date has not been announced. However, many fans suspect news will come sometime soon, considering the season four finale wrapped in March of last year.
Additionally, several cast members took to social media to share that they wrapped their series finally back in November. “That’s a series wrap on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” wrote Rachel Brosnahan in a post on Instagram. “This thing was lightning in a bottle. A cast, a crew, and creators who got to time travel for 5 years together. It changed my life. I’m eternally grateful.”
Alex Bornstein also shared a long heartfelt note to fans. “Maisel is no more,” she wrote “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel once was. And it was marvelous, indeed. 💔”

What will this new season be about?
Currently, there aren’t many details about the plot. However, Rachel hinted that fans may see a bit more character development in season five. In June 2022, she revealed that the fans are “definitely going to watch Midge’s star rise,” per Extra.
And as for Midge’s relationship with Lenny, producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino shared that they believed Midge deserved someone who just got it.
“Knowing that season five was going to be our last and that we only had so much turf to play on helped free up a little bit of what we did with [Lenny] personally,” they told The Hollywood Reporter. “It felt like it fit, frankly, with the journey that Midge is on, that she’s so doggedly trying to find the right way for herself — whether it’s misguided or not — and this mission that she set herself on this year that she felt it was like, ‘It’s my way or the highway.’ It felt like the shake-up needed to happen from somebody who understood her, revered her.”
There will also be more in store for Joel and Mei’s love life following Moishe Maisel’s heart attack over the news of Mei’s pregnancy. Caroline Aaron, who plays Joel’s mother, shared some details as to how her character might receive the news in season five.
“Well, I think she’s not going to be happy about the choice,” Aaron told Express last September. “I think that ultimately the best part of Shirley is that she just wants her children to be happy… I think she will work very hard to get Mei to convert and certainly to raise this child Jewish, and that will be very important to her.”
She also added that she believes Shirley will try to convert Mei to Judaism, even though she’s not sure Mei would commit. “That probably won’t be her decision, but she’s going to try and make it her decision if she has her way.”
How many episodes will there be?
The amount of episodes for the fifth season has yet to be announced. However, the past few seasons have had eight episodes, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this one had the same. Then again, some final seasons give viewers more episodes as a final hurrah, so stay tuned for more updates.
Has The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel been renewed for season 6?
Nope! Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but season five will be the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It also isn’t likely to see a reboot or spinoff in the near future.
“We want to make sure that when we go out, we go out with a bang. I think it’s too early to think about anything—I don’t know about a reboot, I don’t know why we would do that, but I don’t know,” said Sherman-Palladino to The Hollywood Reporter.
